Ruling Awami League Organizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain has said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very serious about the overall development of Sundarganj upazila of the district, reports BSS.
The ruling party leader said development of the upazila has been hampered for the absence of the Member of Parliament (MP) from the Gaibandha-1 constituency.
He made the comment while addressing a public meeting organized by Sundarganj Upazila Awami League at Masterpara village on Saturday afternoon.
With convener of upazila Awami League Mokbul Hossain in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League Mahmud Hasan Ripon, president of district Awami League Advocate Syed Shams-ul-Alam Hiru, General Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique,
Office Secretary Saiful Alam Saka and Afroza Bari, the AL nominated MP candidate.
The organizing secretary urged all to elect the Awami League nominated candidate in the by-election to be held on March 13 for overall development of the upazila.
Later, Awami leaders distributed leaflets to the voters of the upazila seeking vote for the party candidate.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Golam Mostafa Ahmed, who was elected MP from the constituency in the by polls on March 21, 2017 on Awami ticket.
