The country’s electronics giant Walton registered 93 percent growth in sales of fridges during the first quarter (January to March) of 2019 over that in the corresponding period last year.
In January to March of 2019, the local brand sold around 4.34 lakh units of fridges against 2.25 lakh units in the same period of 2018.
Senior officials of the company disclosed the data at an ‘Achievement Celebration Programme’ at the company’s corporate office in Dhaka on Wednesday, said a press release.
At the function, 12 area managers of the company were honoured with Best Achievement Award while one of them awarded with ‘Warrior of The Month.’ Moreover, some 17 outlets, including Walton Plazas and distributors’ showrooms, received ‘Best Branding Award’ for conducting outstanding branding of the ongoing nationwide ‘Digital Campaign Season-4’ in their respective areas.
Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited’s Vice-Chairman SM Shamsul Alam, Managing Director SM Ashraful Alam and Director Raisa Sigma Hima handed over the crests to the awardees at the programme.
Among others, the company’s Executive Directors Eva Rezwana, Amdadul Haque Sarker, Md. Rayhan, Nazrul Islam Sarker, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Chowdhury Hasan Shawrardy, SM Zahid Hasan, Humayun Kabir, Shoyeb Hossain Nobel, Uday Hakim, Golam Murshed and Dr Md. Shakhawat Hossen, Deputy Executive Directors Firoj Alam and Shahjada Salim were present. Film actor Amin Khan moderated the function.
Prior to that programme, another programme ‘Meet the Managers’ was held at the same venue. Walton Fridge’s Product Manager Md. Shahiduzzaman Rana said, Walton 112,317 units fridge in January, 2019 while 155,787 units in February and 166,139 units in March. The company sold 65,224 units fridges in January, 71,075 in February and 88,952 in March.
Walton officials said, they released new models of frost and non-frost refrigerators of inverter and glass door at the beginning of the year.
Under the digital campaign season 4, customers are getting sure cash vouchers up to Tk 1 lakh or free appliances such as laptop, refrigerator, TV, AC etc. by registering their fridges during the purchase from any Walton Plaza or distributor’s outlet across the country.
Along these benefits, customers of Walton fridges are now enjoying 12 years guaranty on compressors as well as one-year replacement guaranty. As a result, Walton fridge has been turned into ‘hot cake’ in the domestic market, the officials noted.
Walton Executive Director Uday Hakim said, Walton set a target of selling out two million units of fridges in the local market. To achieve the target, they undertook timely and strategic working-plans in everywhere, ranging from the production process to marketing.
